Counseling & Transformational Coaching

*There are a couple of important reasons why I have discontinued contracts with insurance companies:

  • Insurance operates from a disease model. Insurance will only pay for the service if I diagnose you as *sick enough* to merit treatment. I work from a wellness/personal growth model. My clients may be struggling with managing certain aspects of their lives but they are not broken, sick, or mentally ill.
  • Insurance companies devalue your mental health and the therapist’s expertise. Insurance companies may deny coverage for treatment if you are not in a crisis state (again *sick enough*). Treatment doesn’t end when the crisis is over. Transformative change happens when you are beyond crisis mode and able to do the inner work required for actual healing rather than just symptom relief.

ILLUMINATE COUNSELING AND COACHING

"There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."

~Nelson Mandela

I offer individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents age 14 and over.  I work with clients on a variety of issues and conditions, including:

  • Personal Growth
  • Self-Expression
  • Depth/Transpersonal Work
  • Transitions including Job Loss, Retirement, Divorce
  • Stress Management
  • Depression/Hopelessness
  • Anxiety/Worry
  • Lifestyle/Health Coaching
  • Emotional Eating
  • Relationships
  • Grief

I typically see clients weekly or bi-weekly.  Consistent treatment allows us to build a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust which is a key aspect of healing and enduring change.  My rates are $200 for an initial intake session and $150 for follow-up sessions. For those who are paying out-of-pocket, I do offer a fee at time of service discount and my rates are $160 for an initial intake session and $135 for all subsequent sessions.

For insurance companies, I am considered an out-of-network provider*.  Your insurance representative will let you know if my services are covered in full, in part, or not at all.  I cannot guarantee coverage, only the insurance company can do that.  I will collect the full fee at time of service and provide you with a statement to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance.

Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
  • How much of the fee is reimbursed for an out-of-network provider?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • Is a referral required from my primary care physician?

Please understand that you are responsible for 100% of any fees

that insurance does not cover.
